It's hard to believe it's been 10 years.
SMF (later known as Sundown) and Berserk started Respawn Inc. in the year 2000, and were quickly followed by Glyph and Cleaner (later known as TetrisL), and the game that shaped this clan was Unreal Tournament.
Even though our practice and gaming time has declined ever since UT, we have played UT2003, UT2004 and UT3 competitively in Barrysworld, Jolt, Wireplay and ClanBase.
We've never aspired to be number one and I'm not lying when i say we've had tons of fun during all the cups we played over the last decade.
Yes, some swearing has occurred on VoiceCom, but no, it wasn't always the soft spoken brotherly duo from the UK
Sure, our FCE2 patented tactic consisting of setting up the positions 5 minutes before the game started might have hurt us now and then, but who cares when you have such fun?
A big hello and thanks to all the great clans we've played in the various UT iterations and cups.
Carpe Imperium, Red Alert, GanGreen, Yet Another Frag, Operation eXtreme, Sanctuary Tigers, Totally Nuts Terrorists, Respawners united, PORN, Venom, StigMata, Natural Born Fraggers......to name a few
You're all more or less responsible for our 173 wins, 37 Draws and 155 losses during these 10 years.
One of the biggest merits of this clan has to be the great members. Everyone is friendly and helpful - something that i think explains why we're still around as a clan.
Some of us met at our clan-meeting in Netherlands 2002, but although I haven't seen some of you in real life (but sometimes daily on irc or VoiceCom) I call you friends with no doubt in my mind (something non-gamers have a hard time understanding I've noticed)
At the time of our 10th year as a clan we're not active in competitive gaming anymore.
We still play and try new games together though, hoping that one day we will find a game that bonds us the way the Unreal Tournament series did, but more and more i think we realise that those golden UT days are gone forever.
Groups of Respawn Inc. members can be seen playing the following games these days: Team Fortress 2, L4D2, Global Agenda, CoD4/MW2, EQ2 and WoW.
Here's to 10 more years in who knows what future games!
During this weekend we will ditch all the fancy new games and play some UT (yes, the one from 1999 with no static meshes to get stuck on) and Quake Live; you're all welcome to join us on irc and/or ingame.
